It strikes me as odd that Rodarte and Mattel both made asymmetrical Van Gogh-inspired dresses this season, both of which feel dangerously Project Runway-esq. Let's try and be a little less literal people! Just because Yves Saint Laurent appropriated half of MoMA doesn't mean that you should too.

Disband was an all-girl punk band comprised entirely of artists with no musical ability. Members included Ingrid Sischy, Martha Wilson, and Barbara Kruger, who wrote their song "Fashions." The lyrics were printed in this issue of the brilliant feminist art journal Heresies, all of the back issues are conveniently archived here.

That's so last season

This season I liked Prada, Meadham Kirchhoff, Louis Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood, Comme des Garcons, Karen Walker and Alexander McQueen. But nothing excited me as much as Junya Wantanabe's fall collection did. I'll probably be dreaming about those motorcycle jackets and faux fur pieces until the day I die.

 

Wild Style

Eighties futurist fashion was just plain weird and only a genius like Marie Chaix could pull off a throwback to that era. She just blows me away, who would think that sticking a model's arm through a metallic satchel would look appealing? And her styling of the iPod (R.I.P. Steve Jobs) is just brilliant. Every look strikes the perfect balance between ugliness and chicness with a heavy dollop of weirdness and androgyny. Bravo Paris Vogue! I'm down with the Emmanuelle Alt era.

Oh my god, what did they do to Yoko? It looks like Liz tied her to a chair and went apeshit with a can of Aqua Net and a teasing comb. And if Yoko was to morph into Whitney Houston, Liz, Liza, and Michael Jackson would be the freaky in-between stages. This photo weirds me out on so many levels.
