Thirty-Three

This video is perfect, apart from Billy Corgan's questionable choice of sunglasses. Thankfully he had better taste in women. Yelena Yemchuk was his girlfriend at the time and she directed the video for "Thirty-Three." It's stop motion animation, can you imagine how laborious this must have been for her? The part with D'arcy on the horse is the best.

Fantasia

I just about died when I came across the concept art for the Pastoral Symphony segment of Fantasia. It's just so magical! If I was Oprah rich I would commission a 50-ft mural of this painting, it would look so great next to my infinity pool. And I'd also give Tim Walker 300 million dollars to finance a lavish live-action remake of the Pastoral Symphony. Computer generated imagery would be strictly forbidden, instead Tim would draw inspiration from the work of Busby Berkeley and Georges Méliès. Alber Elbaz would make the costumes and Lily Cole and Lindsey Wixon would play centaurs. And Phillip Glass could create an alternate score for the Criterion DVD release, just like he did with La Belle et la Bete. God that would be good.

Return to Oz

Return to Oz is terrifying. When Dorothy (Faruzia Balk) returns to Kansas and tells her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em about her experiences with talking lions and flying monkeys they decide to send her to a mental hospital for electroshock therapy. Thankfully she manages to escape from the hospital and miraculously ends up back in Oz. Unfortunately, Oz has been destroyed by an evil witch who decapitated the most attractive female residents and interchanges their heads with her own. As a child I was obsessed with this part of the film and would habitually re-create it with my Barbie dolls. It's hard to pry the head off a Barbie doll, if only I had the terrifying new "Fashionista Swappin' Styles" Barbie, my life would have been so much easier!

Girlfriend in a Coma

Catherine Breillat's new film The Sleeping Beauty looks slightly less disturbing than Julia Leigh's Sleeping Beauty but that's not saying much. I can't wait to see both of them!

What's Your Fantasy?

Fantasy and fairy tale imagery has really been speaking to us lately so for the next week or so all of our posts will relate to this theme. Get ready for a bevy of fairies, mermaids, enchanted castles, and the occasional talking animal! It's going to be so magical up in here, you might forget that you aren't a five year old in a princess outfit. Unless you are, in which case, get off the internet and enjoy your childhood while it lasts! Pretty soon you will have to pay rent, wash your own clothes, and be a slave to your e-mail account. p.s. If you need one too don't fret, the sizing is ridics. I usually wear a women's M/L and the men's L fits perfectly.
