Horses in my Dreams

I'm so happy that I finally have an apartment with a fireplace. Not a real fireplace of course, one of those renovated urban fireplaces that people on Apartment Therapy usually fill with their books. My initial idea was to create some sort of stalker-y crystal-laden Stevie Nicks alter. I had big plans to buy dove figurines and get a lock of blonde hair---just to disturb visitors. It was coming along nicely but then I got this incredible faux-taxidermy horse head from my friend Tamar, isn't it incredible? It belongs over the fireplace, I'll have to move the Stevie stuff elsewhere. The crappy iPhone photo does not do the horse justice, it's a gorgeous dark purple color with silver sequined eyes. It reminds me of the horses in Cinderella and I swoon every time I look at it. It's really unfortunate that I don't know any 5-12 year old girls because they would really dig my living room. I'll share more photos when I'm further along with decorating, I still have a room to paint and a bunch of Ikea stuff to assemble, pray for me!

More Cher

I am so excited to see Burlesque on Thanksgiving, I can't even deal. I really hope that it is more Showgirls than Dreamgirls but either way I'm really happy that Cher is having yet another comeback. I love that she is on the cover of Vanity Fair (looking EXACTLY like her Barbie) and I love seeing giant photoshopped pictures of her face every time I ride the subway. When I was in Las Vegas in September I saw her crazy show at Caesars Palace which is also home to the Cher store. The Cher store is like a crappy mall store except everything is Cher themed. They sell everything from $2 Cher breath mints to $10,000 Cher-approved diamond cage rings. I walked out with a baseball hat and a fridge magnet of Half Breed-era Cher. My fridge looks so much better now.

Luxirare x Chelsea

OH MY GOD this is the most amazing thing that I have ever seen in my entire fucking life!!!!!! No amount of expletives and exclamation points could possibly convey how stoked I am right now. I feel as if I may die from happiness, although really hope that doesn’t happen because I would be so pissed if I died before I got the chance to see Black Swan. But anyway, the source of my excitement is this: my friend Luxirare made gorgeous little cakes adorned with graphics from a collage that I made for Chelsea #2 (below). She is a total genius---totes the Elsa Schiaparelli of cuisine---and it is so incrediblel to see my work merge with hers in such a bizaare, fantastical way! I highly recommend reading her post; it is way way cooler than this one and has a lot more photos. I’m going to go die now.

ps. Chelsea #2 is now sold at various locations in NYC: McNally Jackson, St. Mark's Bookshop, that awesome magazine shop on Spring & Lafayette, the one on Prince & Sullivan, and that crazy horders one on Avenue A between 4th & 5th. Next friday it will be at Universal News (various locations) and Spoonbill & Sugartown in Williamsburg. Or you can still order it through the website but I would advise doing that sooner rather than later, I am on the verge of selling out!

Little Winter

If you live in Portland you'll not want to miss the Little Winter handmade market, going on right now at the Cleaners next to the Ace Hotel! I'm excited to finally meet Anabela of Fieldguided who will be selling her beautiful ties as well as the most amazing Kate Bush inspired tote bags. There's also rumor of a cat calendar, I'll be sure to post photos of my loot after I check it out tomorrow. Susan Miller has been urging me to get all my holiday shopping done early this year and I'm sure that the Little Winter sale will be nothing short of a holiday treasure trove. Yes!
