Stills from The Red Shoes, an iconic 1948 film about a ballerina that must choose between love and her dance career. Black Swan was heavily influenced by the imagery, if you haven't seen this you should really watch it right now!
Love, love this movie!! In fact I've talked about it some time ago in my blog, I remembered it with all this buzz about ballet ... it's so different and strong, and art direction is just beautiful.
I totally agree with you regarding Black Swan. That was my first impression after seen the movie, it is a new version of Red Shoes ..... beautiful though !
Just to say that I really like your blog ! It's a huge way of inspiration for me ! Have a really happy new year 2011 and thank you for the reference ! I can't wait to see Black Swan, and now : Red Shoes ! Kisses from Paris <3

Love this movie, even if I'm not too keen on the ending. It has some of the most gorgeous visuals. I wish movies were still done in Technicolor.
