Masculin Féminin

After working on I Love Your Style I thought that I had discovered every single style icon in the known universe. But somehow I overlooked the Swiss writer and photographer Annemarie Schwarzenbach, isn't she fantastic? Read all about her brilliant and hedonistic life here.

Interesting! I will add her to my list of potentially jewelry-inspiring women.

She is so beautifully androgynous. I love women who can carry off that look, Katharine Hepburn being another example. Thanks for the photos

Thanks for this. Wouldn't she be a great subject for a film starring Cate Blanchett or Tilda Swinton?!

Great pictures! You might be interested to know that Seagull Books will now be bringing out Schwarzenbach's work in English. Two of books ("All the Roads Are Open", about her Afghanistan journey, and "Lyric Novella") have just appeared in English, translated by myself and my colleague Lucy Renner Jones.

Really like some of her style but with that some of her outfits were a little more feminine.

That's a woman? She/He is lovely...I like the androgynous look...probably because I'm a tomboy though.

In the second row of pictures she really looks like a man. What was she known for? Any really famous written works or photographs?
